Coconut farmers, MSMEs generate P17.58M in sales

Coconut farmers and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in CALABARZON generated P17.58 million in combined sales during the weeklong COCONUTPhilippines featuring KALAKAL CALABARZON 2026 trade fair, held August 17 to 23 at Festival Mall Alabang in Muntinlupa City.

The seven-day event showcased 61 exhibitors, including 47 beneficiaries of the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) from across the region and 14 One Town, One Product (OTOP) entrepreneurs from Laguna. Total revenues comprised P10.69 million in direct cash sales and P6.90 million in booked orders to be fulfilled post-event.

Exhibitors from Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon offered a wide array of locally made goods, including coconut-based food and beverages, health and wellness products, personal-care items, handicrafts and fashion products.

By moving beyond raw coconut harvesting into processed, value-added goods, participating CFIDP farmers and small business owners significantly boosted their earning potential. The fair served as a key market-linking platform, connecting local producers with general consumers, institutional buyers, distributors and retailers.

“The P17.58 million in combined cash and booked sales shows what our farmers and MSMEs can achieve when they are given access to wider markets,” said DTI Laguna Provincial Director Christian Ted Tungohan.

“More importantly, it shows that our local enterprises have products that consumers and buyers are willing to support. Our task now is to help them build on these gains and sustain the connections they made during the trade fair.”

Trade officials note that the secured booked orders will extend the economic impact well beyond the event, creating repeat business and long-term commercial opportunities for CALABARZON’s agricultural sector. END
